Ontario Search & Recovery Canines (OSARC), K9 Kon and handler Sherri Hall were honoured to assist the Children of Shingwauk Alumni Association in October 2025 with the important work of searching the grounds of the Shingwauk Residential School site in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario.
Working alongside the community on this meaningful initiative was a privilege for our team. As specialists in cold case, historical, and forensic search operations, we approached this work with the utmost respect, care, and commitment to supporting community-led efforts.
While the results of the search are not yet publicly released, the operation was highly successful and represents an important step forward in this ongoing process.
We are deeply grateful for the trust placed in our team and honoured to have been part of this significant and impactful work.
The OSARC team is deeply humbled and honoured to have supported the Wauzhushk Onigum Nation through the Kaatagoging Survivors Initiative Project in Kenora, Ontario. It was a privilege to work alongside ISN Maskwa, SAR-1, Narratives, and, most importantly, the Survivors and community members whose strength and guidance shaped this work.
As a team specializing in cold case, historical, and forensic investigations, this experience was profoundly meaningful and left a lasting impact on each of us. We are grateful for the trust placed in our team and for the opportunity to contribute in a respectful and supportive role.
Throughout our time with the community, we were honoured to learn about and take part in important cultural practices, including smudging, tobacco offerings, and the use of cedar. These teachings deepened our understanding and reinforced the importance of approaching this work with care, respect, and humility.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Wauzhushk Onigum Nation and wish the community strength and continued support as they move forward in this important journey.
